Gerges Algawly , title : "The Pig and the Kite."
title : "The Pig and the Kite."Dimensions are 40 cm in length, 20 cm in width, and 35 cm in height. The materials used are gravel and granite. The artwork depicts a kite or eagle perched on the ground in a submissive and humble posture, contrasting its greatness, loftiness, and high status in the sky, soaring with pride and majesty, armed with its strength and unmatched grandeur, which does not befit this lowly position. Below it is the pig, reaching out to it with pride, incongruent with the pig's status, living amidst pollution, garbage, and refuse. This work is crafted from gravel, a highly durable material found in nature in various shapes and forms, containing representations of animals, birds, fish, humans, fruits, and more. The artist drew inspiration from these gravel blocks, adding subtle touches to emphasize the artist's vision of the gravel block's form. From it, the artist created the image of the kite in a weakened state, while the pig is depicted in a more elevated posture. This contradicts reality and provides a critical perspective from the artist on the current state where noble values have been lost, replaced by debased ideas that have taken a higher place than the values themselves, much like the pig and the kite. This artwork was exhibited as part of an exhibition titled "The World of Gravel" at the International Scientific Conference of the Sculpture Department and the Faculty of Fine Arts, Minya University, in 2018.Master sculptor
